When I made a complaint about Saskatoon Transit promoting a Christian religious holiday while ignoring holidays for other religions, the counterargument of Saskatoon city councillor Troy Davies was that his dad was a veteran and that his dad wouldn't support removal of the messages for a Christian holiday. Troy Davies appeared to be arguing that because his dad is a veteran, we should embrace preferential treatment for Christianity that Troy Davies believed his dad would support. Troy Davies is too stupid to realize that he shamefully and permanently made his own dad look bad among people supporting religious liberty.
I don't know or care about the position of Troy Davies's dad. I'm a veteran too. I'm not saying that we should follow my beliefs because I'm a veteran. Veterans aren't entitled to dictate policies. I'm saying that we should follow the law and support freedom of religion, which includes freedom from religion.
Troy Davies brings no significant public policy ideas to City Council. He's mainly a rubber stamper in my opinion for what the administration recommends.
